i recommend using the Sims 2 File Maid - otherwise use a free unzipping program like ALZip to extract all .zip or .rar files to your 'My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads' folder.

full sims and real estate lots are .Sims2Pack files, and need to be double-clicked to install.

how do you make custom content for the sims 2?
